What experience do you have?
Andrew founded the class gift program at St. Mary's Catholic Center in its early format back in 2005. Fast forward to today and the My Class Gift team of Class Gift Consultants has over 20 years of fundraising experience doing everything from class gifts, alumni relations and capital campaigns. We believe that this diversity of experience makes us ideally suited to make your Class Gift Program a transformational experience for your institution and your alumni.
How are transactions entered into my donor system?
We process the thousands of transactions that your Class Gift Program will undoubtedly generate so that you don’t have to. And because we understand that those transactions are just the start for you and your long-term development strategy, we make sure to get as much information as we can directly into your donor management system. We currently have a reporting module with donor details and pledge status which you will have access to 24/7 for importing into your system. To make this even easier in the future, we are currently designing direct integration for a number of the most popular database systems (i.e. Raiser's Edge). Let us know what you use and we’ll include that in our development plans.
What levels of support can you provide?
As an institutional partner of My Class Gift, you will receive a dedicated website for your Class Gift Program like https://aggiecatholic.myclassgift.com and support for getting started. We find that some clients want additional consulting to help maximize giving immediately and lay the foundation for a successful and sustainable program. This consulting support can range from a light touch to a more hands-on approach depending on your needs. At the end of the day, we truly believe that our role is to make our institutional partners as successful as possible.
What type of pledges can be made?
Donors can make one-time gifts or pledges which are paid out over a period of time. Pledge amounts and payment periods can be tailored to your program specifically but the most common plan is a $1,000 pledge paid out over 50 months ($20 per month). Approximately 98% of all dollars come from pledges and 80% of participants choose to pledge. Payments can be delayed until a future date to give seniors the confidence to pledge now and give later.
What forms of payment can you accept?
Our platform accepts all major credit cards and integrates with the credit card processing companies to automatically update card details when they expire. We expect to also allow donors to make recurring ACH bank payments in the near future. Stay tuned for that development.
Is credit card processing secure?
Yes, our payment processor, Stripe, is PCI compliant and all data is held securely. Donors also have access to their own secure accounts to make updates to their payment info, payment schedule and donor profile. Everything is designed to make this process as simple as possible for our institutional partners.
What is a Class Gift Agent?
While the Internet and new crowdfunding platforms are transforming the landscape of philanthropy, we believe that the basic principle that “people give to people” is still true. Recruiting and training a network of passionate college seniors at each institution is something that separates My Class Gift from any other crowdfunding providers.
We work with your staff to identify the influential members of the class and recruit them to market the Class Gift Program and engage their classmates through personal contacts. In some cases, a class gift committee already exists which we are happy to work with and train in this new model. Additionally, these Agents always end up loving the experience and will often times become your most dedicated alumni long into the future.
When is the ideal time to start?
People ask us this all the time and the answer is always the same...Now! It is never too early to begin planning for the next Class Gift. Whether it's recruiting Agents, adding content to the website, filming videos, scheduling events and activities or simply building awareness among the current student body, there is important work to be done.
We recommend starting promotional activities during the Fall semester and more focused activities, promotion, events and actual solicitations in the spring semester. And we always recommend a check presentation ceremony at the end of the spring semester to wrap up the campaign and begin setting the stage for the next class.
